Amanda Hogan, DBA, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RTR joined us as a member of our Fall 2022 Sonography Scholarship Selection Committee. Amanda is the Director of Imaging and Surgical Sciences at Bellin College. Thank you Amanda!
I am honored to give back to the wonderful profession of sonography by volunteering for the Student Scholarship. I have been a sonographer for 14 years and worked in a wide variety of settings throughout the United States.
My current role is as Program Director for Bellin College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Students get to choose between a cardiovascular or general vascular concentration. In the faculty role I am able to work directly with sonography students that will someday be taking care of my friends, family, and likely myself. I want my students to be such good sonographers that when I walk into a room and see they’re taking care of me, I feel a huge sense of relief. That is how I know I am doing my job well.
I am passionate about ultrasound and thankful for the wonderful mentors that I had along the way. I love reading student essays where they boast about their schools and the wonderful education they are getting. Every ultrasound program has the same goal in mind : to graduate competent, excellent care-givers.
I have a special place in my heart for volunteering and working with at risk youth. I love spending time with my husband (also a sonographer!) and our three children.
