Erin LaBorde, RDMS

Erin LaBorde, RDMS joined us as a member of our Spring 2022 Sonography Scholarship Selection Committee. Thank you Erin!

Erin LaBorde, RDMSHello! My name is Erin and I am honored to be a volunteer for the Spring 2022 Sonography Student Scholarship!

I have been a general Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for 5 years now, in multiple geographic locations. My passion for ultrasound began with a very personal experience (as many other sonographers often share similar motivation for getting into the field). Comparatively to one of the scholarship students, I endured a disheartening and dismissive experience when I was young. This type of negative interaction in healthcare created a strong determination to pursue the field to ensure my patients would have the opposite experience with comfort, reassurance and genuine care from me as a professional.

Five years in, and I never forget my “why” to pursuing this career! Furthermore, I’ve created and self-published a fun coloring book for sonography students! A wonderful aspect of this field is the growing opportunity to continuously learn and help others along the way.

I aspire to eventually teach in a classroom and continue to pass down my experience and knowledge for other determined students. This is why I created a coloring book; for students to visualize didactic concepts in a creative way from a technologist who understands the connection between textbook and practicum! I hope to inspire others to not only see their potential in this field, but to understand the importance and impact their presence will make in healthcare.
